Retail Shopfitting Electrical Installation, Route One, Westgate Centre, Oxford
What the client wanted
Elise Projects were fitting out a new Route One store at the Westgate Centre in Oxford. Route One is a skateboarding retail brand, and the unit had existing electrics from the previous tenant that needed reworking to suit the new shop layout.
With retail fit-outs, turnaround is always the priority. Every day the unit isn't trading is a day the client is paying rent on an empty shop, so the full programme had to be delivered within a week.
What we did
We worked alongside Elise Projects to carry out the full electrical installation for the new layout, covering all altered circuits and the specialist retail lighting the design required.
With clothing and equipment retail, lighting does most of the work. We installed LED lighting built directly into the shelves and shelving units throughout the store, giving the product a showroom feel rather than relying on overhead lighting alone. Sockets and data points are a smaller part of a shop installation compared to something like an office, so the majority of the work was focused on getting the lighting right.
We have worked with Elise Projects for over 20 years, which means we understand how they run their programmes and what a retail fit-out clock looks like from the inside.
Outcome
A complete retail electrical installation delivered in a week, ready for Route One to stock up and open to customers at one of Oxford's busiest shopping centres.
